What exactly is a terrain cure? Behind the rather complex term lies a simple principle: the combination of light movement over an extended period under favourable climatic conditions in an appealing environment.
Terrain hiking or Nordic walking trains the heart and circulation, reduces stress, strengthens the immune system and promotes health and relaxation. Three terrain cure trails in Bad Nauheim invite you to do just that. All the routes have been bioclimatically and physiologically measured and can be used with minimal exertion or for jogging and walking under medical supervision. With different lengths, inclines and difficulty levels, the terrain cure trails are suitable for both beginners and advanced runners who want to test and gradually increase their performance.
The starting point for all three running tracks is Gradierbau (blackthorn graduation tower) I, near the town library. Here, you'll find a large information board with detailed descriptions of the routes and their respective elevation and performance profiles. From there, the differently coloured signposts direct you to your desired route. The signs also provide information on the type of trail, route number, difficulty level and remaining kilometres.
Three Nordic walking trails with different levels of difficulty invite you to take a tour into the countryside.
Start at Gradierbau (blackthorn graduation tower) I, and make your way to the great pond. Return to the starting point through the spa park and rose garden. The path is well suited for jogging or Nordic walking and is not very demanding. In summer, the path is mostly sunny, although there is often the opportunity for shade.
After starting at graduation tower I, the path takes you through the Sprudelhof (fountain courtyard) to the great pond and along it. You pass the golf course and return through the edge of the town forest and the spa gardens. There is a good alternation of sunny and shady areas, but in summer, it can occasionally get a bit hot.
The longest of the three terrain cure trails starts at graduation tower I. From there, it leads through the railway station to Goldsteinpark and into the spa gardens along the great pond. You then take a long loop around the Bad Nauheim town forest, finally returning through the spa gardens. The protective forest cover makes for very pleasant climatic conditions in summer.
