Talkshow with Elvis' secretary Pat West
24th European Elvis Festival 2026
Pat West is one of those personalities who knew Elvis Presley not from the stage, but from everyday life. As Elvis Presley's former secretary and wife of Red West, she was part of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll's inner circle for many years. Her memoirs offer a rare glimpse behind the scenes at Graceland and into the life of the so-called Memphis Mafia.
In the early 1960s, around 1960/1961, Pat West began working in Elvis Presley's office. Together with Elvis's aunt Lillian, she worked in administration and was particularly responsible for communicating with fan clubs. A large part of her job was to respond to and organize the daily flood of fan mail. In a time without email or social media, this work was crucial for maintaining contact between Elvis and his fans worldwide. Pat West experienced firsthand how strong the emotional bond between the fans and Elvis was and how much effort went into maintaining the superstar's public image.
